20% Time

In my English class we are starting a project called 20% Time. Basically every Friday we get to work on a project that we decide on. I decided to work with my friend Benjamin and together we are going to write a song. So far we've brainstormed with a few ideas. In the future we are going to try to have one or maybe even two songs that are just instrumental.

If I Could Change One Thing in the World

If I Could Change One Thing in the World

     If I could change one thing in the world, I would want everyone to work together and get along. If all countries worked together, there would not need to be wars. If everyone worked together instead of tearing each other down, there would not need to be any fighting amongst each other. Basically I would want everyone to be nice to each other and just be good people. If all people were good people, then there would not really be any sin. I would like if all countries worked together because then we would have closer ties with everyone around the world. I think it would be super cool to get to know other people from other countries. Also I would like for our country to be friends with other countries that do not really like us that much. If everyone from all countries were nice to each other, then there would not be any murders or terrorist attacks or anything like that. Everyone would want the best for each other and would not want to hurt anyone.

​     It would be cool if every country worked together and helped poorer countries or countries that had a recent bad thing happen. Countries should just help other countries become better developed and accomplish things. It is kind of sad that some countries have all these luxuries that many countries might not have even heard of. It would be cool if those countries could have these luxuries and be able to have contact with countries like ours. I think it would be really cool if everyone could just be connected with people from other countries and be friends with people who are not in the same place as you are. With all this, many relationships can be built and become stronger.

​     Relationships being built all across the world would benefit a person in many ways. With friends in many different places around the world, you can learn a lot about those places which will help you learn about many cultures. When people know a lot about another culture, they can introduce new customs to their country. After a while, countries will have a mix of many different cultures. Culture is so cool and after many cultures mix, a new culture can form that has customs from many different cultures from many different places around the world.

​     I think I would want countries to have closer ties because I think that it is super cool that every country is different and everyone in those countries is different. I like to hear the stories of people’s lives and would LOVE to hear about the lives of people in other countries. I have always been fascinated about hearing about people’s lives and I think that is why I like to watch vlogs and stuff like that. When people from around the world have close ties with people on the opposite side of the globe, they get to hear about the lives of others. I would love to just see what happens in other people’s lives because every life is an interesting and unique thing. Every life is special and I would like to know about as many as I can.

Science Project: Solar Cooker

Recently we started a science project. The project is about thermal energy so our assignment is to create a solar cooker. A solar cooker is like an oven but uses the sun to power it. We have to build this solar cooker from scratch practically. We are allowed to use materials that we find at our house and Mr. Weiss brought tools for us to use. The point of a solar cooker is to make a way to cook food for people who don't have electricity or an easy way to cook food. This is a cool project and is fun to do. Mr. Weiss is planning to use our solar cookers to have a potluck. While we build the solar cooker, we have to make a video to show other people how to make a solar cooker. The catch is that it has to be mostly visuals because the video is designed for everyone, even if they speak english or not. This project is a brand new idea that Mr. Weiss had and it is the first year that he has tried it so we don't know exactly how everything will turn out. I think it will work itself out and everyone will have a good time.

The Huffines Art Festival

Last Saturday, I went to an event by my house called the Huffines Art Festival. I went with my sister, my mom, my mom's friend, and my mom's friend's sister. At the Huffines Art Festival there are booth-type things that have different art and other creative things. There were booths that had paintings and other typical artsy things. There was one booth that had really cool wallets made from recycled chip bags! That same booth had journal covers made from old records. There were also booths that had creative food. One booth had fudge made with many different flavors and another booth had toffee that was REALLY good. Other booths had jewelry, decorations, and little sculptures. For the kids, the festival had little carnival games. A lot of people also brought their dogs. There was one dog that was probably the biggest dog I have ever seen. Overall, it was a pretty cool experience. We didn't stay for very long but it was still very cool and since I like art, it was interesting to see all the different variations.

Trading Cards

The other day I went to the store and decided to pick up some trading cards. Why? Trading cards don't really do anything and I am probably never going to use these trading cards ever again. Well, what is the purpose of trading cards then? Baseball and other sport-type trading cards are a good way to see a player's stats and I've even seen my dad create imaginary baseball games by using his baseball trading cards. (He has A LOT). Other trading cards from game franchises (something like Pokemon) are a just a way for these companies to make even more money than they already do. These companies created a purpose for trading cards like these by having things like tournaments. Tournaments are when you use the cards to battle or something like that depending upon which trading cards you are talking about. Another thing you can do is trade cards with other people (you know, TRADING cards). If you have two of the same card, it's kind of obvious that you should trade one of them with someone else for a card that you don't already have. Since I don't collect baseball cards or go to any kind of tournament, why do I buy trading cards? Well, I like to collect merchandise from my favorite games and companies. Most of the trading cards I have are just because I want to collect them because I like the specific franchise. Trading cards are just another way for companies to make money, but in my opinion trading cards do look cool and I just like having them.

Great Wolf Lodge

This Thursday and Friday, I am going to go to Great Wolf Lodge. For those of you who don't know what Great Wolf Lodge is, I will explain. Great Wolf Lodge has different parts to it. It is a hotel, so you can stay overnight. It also has a HUGE water park that is inside and outside. On the inside water park, there is a wave pool and a lazy river. Both of these are quite big. It also has two of those kid play areas, but one is so big that it is pretty much for all ages. There are also a lot of slides. There are two that are so big that they go outside and back in. I have only been to the outside water park once and I know it has many slides and a pool area.

There are also shops that are in the main hotel part of Great Wolf Lodge. There are candy shops, souvenir shops, and even an arcade. The most important shop, though, is the MagiQuest shop. MagiQuest is where you find different objects on the different floors to complete certain tasks with your wand. You can customize your wand at the MagiQuest shop, as well as buy MagiQuest merchandise. There is also a big restaurant with really good food.

If you have never been to Great Wolf Lodge, I recommend it. It is a great family vacation place. Have you guys ever been to Great Wolf Lodge? What is your favorite part?

Clean Bedroom?

Everyone has a bedroom and has to make the decision to keep it clean. I have always know that I should have a clean bedroom but, I never quite understood why. I think that if your room isn't clean, then you won't live a clean life. Whenever my room isn't clean, I don't really want to clean up after myself when I use other rooms in my house. Also if my room isn't clean, I don't want to ever be in my room. I think that when your room isn't clean, you won't live a clean life. What do you guys think? Do you think that a clean room will affect the rest of your life?

There are other times when guests come over and my mom wants me to clean my room. Why? The guests aren't going into my room. My mom never really gave me a reason. She just told me not to argue and clean it up. I know a guest could possibly wander into my room but I just don't get why it should be clean for them. What do you guys think? Why should your room be clean for a guest who shouldn't even go in there?
